I was not really interested deeply in politics until about 2001, so I can sympathize with those who would rather not pay attention. I distinctly remember myself saying, in 1996, that my life was not affected whatsoever by who was President of the United States. But in the last few years I have increasingly found truth in the adage that if you don't turn on to politics, politics will surely turn on you. The more I looked at the things I was dissatisfied about in our society and in my own life, the more often I was able to trace the roots of the problems back to a few core political issues that have captured my attention.
Our system is broken and, therefore, my political interest centers on reform movements and parties. The issues I care about most are:
I ultimately consider myself an independent, but I strongly support the Green Party and agree with them on most issues, especially their ten key values.
